A tribute to Maria
Maria Portugal Terracota was born in 2015, but its story began much earlier. In 1900, Maria shaped clay in a small workshop, creating pieces by hand that would later find their way to local markets. More than a century later, that same spirit continues to inspire us. Today, we translate this heritage into a contemporary language, creating tableware and decorative collections where tradition, design and material come together.
Maria is more than our name. She is our origin, our inspiration and the story we continue to shape.
Our heritage
It all began with clay, hands and a wood-fired kiln. Over more than a century, processes have evolved, technology has changed and our capabilities have grown. But something remains: our understanding of the material and the care behind every gesture. Today, we bring that knowledge together with contemporary processes and technology, preserving the identity that has shaped us from the beginning.

In Maria's name
Giving the brand Maria's name was a way of returning to where it all began. To the woman, the gesture and the desire to create that started this story. Her legacy does not belong only to the past. It lives in the way we continue to approach ceramics: with respect for the material, curiosity for design and the desire to create pieces made to live.

Vision
To create Portuguese ceramics where heritage and contemporary design meet.
Mission
To shape collections with identity, where material knowledge, detail and a contemporary vision turn every piece into a presence.

Maria today
Today, Maria Portugal Terracota brings its story to new tables, new spaces and new markets. We create tableware and decorative collections with a language of their own: distinctive forms, tactile textures and colours designed to work together or stand confidently on their own.
Attention to detail, lasting quality
Quality begins long before a piece is finished. It is in the choice of material, the precision of the process, the eye that follows each stage and the detail that makes a piece feel right. This is the care we bring to every collection.
